Arts Degree (BA) + Business Administration (MBA) with Co-op

New for the 2024/25 academic year, students from all programs within the Faculty of Arts will be able to pursue a pathway towards earning a Master of Business Administration degree (with co-op!) after graduation.

This unique, elite program lets you start your undergraduate Bachelor of Arts in any one of our 17 Arts majors with a conditional offer of admission to the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics’ full-time MBA co-op program already in hand.

What is the Arts Degree (BA) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program?

The Arts Degree (BA) + Master of Business Administration (MBA) program is an exciting new collaboration being built between the Faculty of Arts and the Lazaridis School of Business & Economics.

If you're successful in your application to the Arts Degree (BA) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) with co-op program, you'll receive two conditional offers of admission:

  • one to undergraduate studies (Bachelor of Arts) in your major of choice within the Faculty of Arts; and
  • one to graduate studies (Master of Business Administration) at the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics.

This means that if you decide to continue your studies at the graduate level, you will have already received a conditional offer of admission. You will begin your master’s program after you graduate from your bachelor’s degree program.

Students accepted into the BA + MBA program receive mentoring and skills development opportunities throughout their undergraduate degree that will help them achieve the admission requirements for the MBA and help turn the conditional offer into an acceptance.

Curriculum Overview

This program is six years: four years in the BA program plus two years in the MBA program. The MBA program consists of three academic terms plus one paid four-month or eight-month work term.

Your MBA courses will cover all the pillars of strategic organizational leadership, including operations, marketing, finance, accounting, analytics, economics, organizational behaviour, and strategy.

Program Requirements

To qualify for admission to the MBA portion of this program, you must:

• meet all of the requirements of your undergraduate program;
• achieve a minimum GPA of 10.5 in the final year of your undergraduate program;
• complete BU205: Introduction to Applied Statistics (or an equivalent course) with a final grade of at least A-; and
• complete the Career Development and Experiential Learning Certificate offered by the Career Centre.

MBA with Co-op

Co-op is a way to integrate what you are learning in the classroom with practical experience in your field of study. The co-op program within the Lazaridis School of Business & Economics is the largest of its kind in Canada and has earned a 97-100% employment rate for many years now.

All Arts Degree (BA) + Business Administration (MBA) with Co-op students will participate in co-op as part of their graduate degree experience. Most MBA co-op students will earn four to eight months of paid work experience that will provide an invaluable addition to your resume and give you the insights needed to help you make the right choices for your career path.
