Join us at Laurier

Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

Current students at one of Laurier's exchange partner institutions are invited to participate in the student exchange program at Laurier for one or more terms:

  • A fall term exchange is from September to December.
  • A winter term exchange is from January to April.
  • A fall-winter exchange is from September to April.

Find out the application deadlines and your next steps for applying to come to Laurier on exchange. You can also come to Laurier from non-exchange partner institutions, though the process is a bit different. We look forward to welcoming you to Laurier!

2021/22 Student Exchange Program Update

Updated: December 21, 2021

Effective December 20th, 2021 Laurier has decided that inbound international students may participate in exchange remotely by staying enrolled in their virtual Laurier courses until they are provided permission to travel to Laurier. Laurier does not support inbound student travel to Canada for exchange until it is determined to be safe for travel.

If Laurier decides in January, based on public health restrictions, to extend the period during which classes remain remote delivery, incoming exchange students will not be supported by Laurier to travel to Canada during the period of that extension.

For more information visit the Student Exchange Program FAQs.

Whether you will be studying remotely or in person at Laurier, you may also want to travel to Canada. To do so, you will need to adhere to all travel and quarantine requirements, outlined below. You will also need to have the proper immigration documentation, including a study permit.

Travelling to Canada

International exchange students who meet the Government of Canada’s requirements for entering the country to study have the option to register to travel to study at Laurier. Laurier has prepared a stringent Safe Travel, Arrival, and Quarantine (STAQ) program to protect the health of our students, staff, and community.

International exchange students who wish to pursue this option need to register, and more details about the application and quarantine process is outlined on the International Student Support website.
