Join us at Laurier

Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

In-Person Campus Tours

We’re excited to announce that we’re welcoming future students back to campus for in-person campus tours. We know how important campus visits can be, so we’ve developed a tour program that prioritizes the health and safety of the Laurier community while giving you the opportunity to experience Laurier for yourself.

All in-person campus tours must be booked in advance. At this time, we’re not able to provide in-person tours to walk-in guests.

Tour Availability

Keeping you safe is our top priority, and we are doing our best to increase our tour offerings while we adhere to safety guidelines and protocols.

We are currently accepting visitors from regions designated as red or lower, according to the Government of Ontario framework. If you have any questions, email waterlootours@wlu.ca or brantfordtours@wlu.ca.

You can also book a live guided virtual tour or watch a pre-recorded campus tour and experience campus from the comfort of your home. We’ll also be offering in-person campus tours again in January.

Campus Specific Tour Availability

Brantford campus tours: In-campus tours are available until Dec. 19.

Waterloo campus tours: Spaces for our campus tours are limited at present. We encourage you to check back regularly for updates on additional tour availability.

To help accommodate demand, Laurier is offering two virtual tour webinars for the Waterloo campus. Registration is required so that we can send you the link to join us live.

What to Expect

Our campuses will be much quieter than usual, with most staff and students working and studying from home. However, students may be on campus accessing study spaces and student support services that are available in person. To ensure everyone’s safety, we’ll be following social distancing protocols throughout the tours.

24 hours before your tour, you will receive a reminder email with a link to a mandatory COVID-19 self-assessment. You can use one self-assessment for your entire tour group, and you must complete the assessment before coming to campus. If you answer yes to any of the screening questions, your tour will be cancelled. You are invited to rebook your tour for a later date, or schedule one of our virtual tour options.

When you arrive at Laurier for your tour, Hand sanitizer will be available, and face coverings will be required for the parts of the tour that are indoors. We ask that you bring your own face covering. Washrooms will be available upon arrival in Brantford. There will be a washroom stop at the first tour stop in Waterloo.

Learn more about Laurier’s COVID-19 health and safety protocols.

Barrier-Free Access

To help ensure social distancing, more of our tour routes will be outside. This means there could be challenges with barrier-free access throughout the tour. Let us know if you would like a barrier-free tour and we’ll be happy to arrange this for you. Please email us after you book your tour at waterlootours@wlu.ca or brantfordtours@wlu.ca.

About Our Tours

Each tour will be led by a Laurier student ambassador and only one family will be in each tour group. This means our ambassadors can be flexible with the tour and customize the experience to best meet your needs and answer your questions. And our tours run rain or shine, so be sure to dress for the weather.

Open House
is here – and it's live.

Join us on November 25th for an evening of fun and get an informative glimpse into your future at Laurier.

You will have the option of booking a faculty-specific tour or a full Waterloo campus tour. Both tours will cover many areas of campus, including:

  • academic and faculty buildings
  • student community spaces
  • dining and food outlets
  • the Athletic Complex

The tour will also stop outside residence buildings but, to ensure your safety as well as the safety of our students living in residence, we’re not able to go inside our residences. You can explore our Waterloo residences with our virtual video tours.

You will receive a confirmation email for your tour booking and 24-hour reminder email. Your reminder email will contain the following instructions for parking and arriving on campus.

Arriving on Campus

Your Laurier student ambassador will meet you for your tour in the campus quad (see our online map to locate the quad). You will find your ambassador waiting for you by the campus statue.

Please call the Waterloo campus Welcome Centre at 519.884.0710 x3518 to confirm your arrival.

Washrooms will be available at the first tour stop.

Parking

Laurier’s parking lots are designated by coloured parking permits. Parking is currently free in white lots.

Please try to park in Lot 03A, our recommended parking lot for campus tour visitors. To navigate to the parking lot, arrive at the main campus entrance at 75 University Ave W., Waterloo, Ontario. Drive down Mid-Campus Drive and make a left turn at your first opportunity to park in Lot 03A between the soccer field and the Athletic Complex.

Please note that there are other campus parking lots, but parking is only free in white lots. Please print your confirmation or reminder email and put it on the dashboard of your car.

See our map for walking directions from Lot 03A to the meeting spot for your tours.

Full Brantford campus tours are available and can be tailored to your interests. Our ambassadors are flexible and happy to accommodate your requests. The tour will cover many areas of campus, including:

  • academic and faculty buildings
  • student community spaces
  • the Laurier Brantford YMCA
  • dining and food outlets

The tour will also stop outside residence buildings but, to ensure your safety as well as the safety of our students living in residence, we’re not able to go inside our residences. You can explore our Brantford residences with our virtual video tours.

You will receive a confirmation email for your tour booking and 24-hour reminder email. Your reminder email will contain the following instructions for parking and arriving on campus.

Arriving on Campus

Your tour will begin in the Welcome Centre, which is located on the main floor of the Carnegie Building at 73 George St., Brantford, Ontario.

Your ambassador will meet you outside the Carnegie Building at the bottom of the steps. There are washrooms available for use in the Carnegie Building.
