Join us at Laurier

Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

Laurier is your university. And it’s also your home.

Your experience in residence will shape your university career in ways you can’t imagine: Nobody will tell you when to be home or bug you to eat your veggies. But then again, nobody will do your laundry, clean your room, or remind you to set your alarm.

But don’t worry — many of our first-year students choose to live in residence, so you won’t be alone in this new experience. Our residence buildings are more than just a place to sleep and study; they are strong communities that encourage personal growth and development.

We’ll Save a Spot for You

We guarantee residence to all undergraduate students attending a postsecondary institution for the first time. Applications and non-refundable deposits must be received before June 3, 2019 at 11:59 p.m.

Rooms are assigned based on preference and availability. You can request to live with a friend; otherwise, we’ll do our best to pair you with a roommate who has habits similar to yours. (So be honest when you fill out the questionnaire that’s part of the application, and we’ll find you another night owl who likes to listen to hip-hop while studying.)

Students registered with the Accessible Learning Centre will receive appropriate residence accommodations.

Why Live in Residence?

Living in residence gives you plenty of opportunities to get involved, which can mean a quicker, easier transition to university. And there’s no better way to get to know someone than to live with them and share your toothpaste.

Residence students also have access to special activities planned just for them by their residence house councils.

Our campuses are like mini-cities: we have our own security, our own health care, and even our own government. We’re committed to providing you with a variety of services to ensure your safety, well-being and academic success.

Leave Class, Keep Learning

Residence Learning Communities in both Waterloo and Brantford give you a chance to live in themed environments that expand on concepts learned in class and spend more time with students who share the same interests.

Want more say in your residence experience? First-Year Leadership Programs in the arts, diversity and more give you an opportunity to create programming related to your interests.

Striking Out on Your Own?

Laurier has partnered with Places4Students.com, an off-campus housing website that specializes in providing students, schools and landlords with a quality rental property listing service. To view available rental property listings, roommate and sublet listings, visit:

Off Campus but Still Connected

Just because you’re living off campus or staying at home, that doesn’t mean you should be cut off from the action. You can still enjoy all the benefits that a residence community offers by joining LOCUS (Laurier Off-Campus University Students), which provides off-campus students with academic, social and personal support to ensure that you won’t miss out on Laurier’s on-campus experience.
