Why is someone attracted to an artist, a performer or even an outstanding athlete? It is the quality of what they do and how they do it. At Laurier we value quality above all else.
Quality faculty, quality experiences, quality relationships and quality students. You will be challenged here, but you will be given the tools to excel and achieve your goals. Our students graduate as confident, disciplined young artists, teachers and creators. There is a sense of family here – no one falls through the cracks.
You will develop advanced ensemble skills (i.e., people skills), great listening and analysis skills and a sense that you can go out into the world and succeed.
Audition repertoire should be performed at a Grade 8 RCM level or higher. RCM formal training and exams are not required.
Be confident in where you are at in your development. Everyone’s path is unique as students grow in their own individual ways. Sometimes we see rapid growth in some areas. Sometimes our riddles need more time to sort through. Be patient with yourself.
Remember the audition panel wants to get to know you, so be proud of who you are and why you are. Dream big!
