At Laurier, we offer an exceptional student-centred experience. Our Office of Student Affairs facilitates the personal, intellectual and experiential development of our students. We're here for our students, and we have a number of services to ensure that they succeed in their academics, in their future career, and in their day-to-day life.
As evidenced at convocation, students' parents and families are an important part of their success at university. We recognize that working together with parents and families, especially during challenging situations, can often yield positive outcomes for students.
The Dean of Students office helps family members who have concerns about a student's safety or well-being, or are looking for assistance with connecting the student to resources or supports. Due to privacy regulations, the Dean of Students office may be limited in what we can share; however, we are happy to hear your concerns and will take appropriate steps as needed.
In extreme cases where the university is concerned for the imminent safety of a student, the emergency contact listed on our students' file will be contacted by Special Constable Services.
We protect the personal privacy of our students in compliance with Ontario’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA). Consult our FIPPA for Parents webpage for answers to commonly asked questions about student privacy.
If your student is interested in providing you access to their invoicing and account summary information at Laurier, you’ll need their permission to access it. Student can access their LORIS (Laurier Online Registration and Information System) account and grant you proxy access.
Whether your student is entering first year or going into fourth, attending postsecondary education requires some careful financial planning. Visit our Money Management page for information on how you can support your student in this regard.
All your love and support has led your student to this place: graduation! At university, students need to apply to graduate. Our convocation section has all the information you need about the ceremonies, photos, receptions and more.
Our students value helping others: Laurier has the highest proportion of students and alumni with volunteer experience compared to other universities worldwide, according to LinkedIn.
