It’s not just that Laurier is known for being friendly and welcoming. (We are.) Or that Canada is a great place to live. (It is.)
We’re one of Canada's best and fastest-growing smaller universities (our enrolment has doubled in 5 years). Our programs in business, arts, science, social work, education and music will help you launch your career by giving you real-world experience as part of your studies – whether by working on meaningful research alongside a faculty member or taking advantage of co-op work opportunities.
You’ll grow culturally, too: There are dozens of student clubs and groups at our campuses in Waterloo and Brantford, and you’ll meet other students interested in the same things as you before you even have a chance to unpack.
And did we mention that Canada is affordable and safe? The cost of living here is much less than in the UK or Europe, and tuition is also less than in many other countries.
International students in Canada are allowed to work part-time during their studies, so you’ll gain the same practical experiences available to all Laurier students. And once you graduate, you don’t have to leave – international students can work in Canada for 3 years after university, and apply for citizenship after that.
Through our International Student Work Experience Program, you can work part-time right on campus during your studies.
University is challenging enough, and being far from home can add to that. Laurier International will make things easier. The International Student Support office provides peer mentors, assistance with work permits and visas, and an introduction to Canadian life.
You should also check out our international student blog, where you can read about fellow international students and what it’s like to live in Canada and study at Laurier.
It is best to come for a campus visit, but meeting on Skype is the next-best thing. Meet one of our recruiters online – just sign up for a session to learn more about any of our programs by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. (Our screen name is wilfridlaurieruniversity).
We also travel around the world so we can meet students like you – we may be visiting your country sometime soon!
We have created an online admissions toolkit to help you through the process of applying and getting ready for your move to Canada.
International students also need to meet several requirements, including one for English proficiency; our international admissions officers can help you work through these.
