Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Wait List?

"Wait list" is short for "waiting list." Students who are placed on a wait list may receive an offer of admission to one of the Business Administration (BBA) programs if space becomes available.

Laurier uses wait lists to ensure specific enrolment numbers for competitive programs. Due to a high number of strong applicants, Laurier must monitor admission to these programs very carefully.

If space is available in the program after the June 1 confirmation deadline, Laurier will issue additional offers to one of the BBA programs to select candidates from the wait list.

Why am I on the Wait List?

Wait lists are used to ensure programs are not over-enrolled and to ensure the most qualified applicants are accepted. You have been placed on the wait list because you achieved a high academic standing; however, space in this program is very limited.

If you received notice that you have been placed on the wait list for one of the BBA programs, this means you also received an offer to the Honours Economics program with Management Option.

Can I Find Out My Place on the Wait List?

Laurier is not able to confirm an applicant’s place on the wait list because this information changes frequently.

Laurier also does not disclose wait list information because we cannot confirm how many candidates will be selected from the wait list.

Can I Take Summer School Courses to Upgrade?

If Laurier is able to issue offers of admission to wait-listed applicants, we will begin doing so immediately following the June 1 confirmation deadline. Therefore, we are not able to consider summer school courses.

When Will I Find Out If I Am Selected From the Wait List?

We will notify all wait-listed applicants of their status after June 1, 2022. The last date you could hear from us is Aug. 1, 2022.

Will I Be Notified If I Am Not Selected?

Yes. As soon as we are able to, we will notify you when your status on the wait list changes. We will email students who were not selected from the wait list when the program becomes full. The last date you could hear from us is Aug. 1, 2022.

How Will I Be Notified?

We will notify you by email if you are selected from the wait list. Please ensure your contact information is up to date in your applicant portal account. We will email students who were not selected from the wait list when the program becomes full. The last date you could hear from us is Aug. 1, 2022.

What Happens If I Am Not Selected From the Wait List?

If you are not selected for admission to one of the BBA programs and you have accepted your alternate offer, you will enrol in the Economics program with Management Option.

The confirmation deadline is June 1, 2022, at 11:59 p.m.

If I am Selected From the Wait List, Can I Still Keep My Alternate Offer?

It is your decision to choose which program you would like to accept. You can decide to accept your offer to one of the BBA programs or keep your alternate offer to Economics.

If you do not accept your new offer, you will be removed from the wait list and will not be re-added.

If I Do Not Accept My Alternate Offer to Laurier, Will I Still Be Notified If I Receive an Offer to the BBA Program?

Yes, you will be notified regardless of whether or not you accept your alternate offer to Laurier's Economics program.

If you accept another institution’s offer of admission and choose to accept your offer to the BBA program, you will have to cancel your registration at the other institution. Before you cancel your registration, you should familiarize yourself with their cancellation policies.

Please note that space in Laurier’s residences will be limited after June 1 and is not guaranteed.

Should I Apply to Live in Residence?

If you plan to attend Laurier and live in residence, you should accept your current offer of admission and submit your residence application by the June 1 deadline to secure your residence spot. This way, if your program changes after June 1, you will be guaranteed your spot in residence.

Laurier guarantees residence to all incoming first-year students who are attending a postsecondary institution for the first time. To receive a guaranteed spot in residence, you will need to submit a $600 non-refundable deposit and completed application by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on June 1, 2022.
