April 23 key update:

The federal government announced $9 billion in supports for postsecondary students and recent graduates. Plans include:

• The proposed Canada Emergency Student Benefit, where eligible students would receive $1,250 per month, or up to $1,750 per month for students living with dependents or disabilities.
• Creating 116,000 placement and job opportunities.
• Doubling the Canada Student Grants for both full-time and part-time students in 2020/21.
• Extending graduate research scholarships and grants by an additional semester totalling $291 million.
