Join us at Laurier

Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

I am thrilled to be part of the exceptional Laurier community and help in further strengthening the impact and innovation of our research activities across the university. We have many things to be proud of as Laurier’s growing research activities reflect our distinctive interdisciplinary strengths and build on our longstanding history of engagement with local, provincial and global communities, all of which have a strong commitment to excellence.

At this crucial time, Laurier’s transformation into a comprehensive and mid-sized university with a strong and growing research culture is providing innovative solutions to our most pressing issues. Coupled with our strong academic programs, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, we are poised to build on recent research successes and be a university that delivers on research to all of our partners. To guide the continued growth and evolution of research and scholarly activities at Laurier, our 2014-2019 Strategic Research Plan outlines our shared strategic vision to build on our strengths in both basic and applied research and engage our undergraduate and graduate students in the research experience.

The Laurier research environment comprises over 555 faculty researchers from across each of our faculties and multiple campuses, research centres and research chairs, within a highly interactive and interdisciplinary academic community. This is a research community to celebrate and support. Our Office of Research Services staff are committed to supporting the needs of our researchers, staff, students and partners in obtaining the necessary resources and ensuring that we maximize the impact of these investments. We provide assistance to faculty at all stages of pre- and post-award management. Sign up for our Vice-President: Research listserv to stay updated on our research opportunities.

We are also excited to share our research successes with the wider community in featured research spotlights and other avenues such as Twitter. Our research and innovation activities at Laurier intersect and impact a wide range of stakeholders, and there is increasing engagement with our communities to help advance research in new directions that are targeted, strategic, collaborative and transformative. I invite students, faculty and staff at Laurier to join us on this journey!
