I am a member of the voice faculty at Wilfrid Laurier University. In addition, I am the singing coach at the Stratford Festival (ninth season) and the Birmingham Conservatory (seventh season). I am an alumna of The Royal College of Music (U.K) where I completed my postgraduate studies in Opera and Concert Singing. I have enjoyed a 20-year career as a soloist in opera, oratorio, recital, and musical theatre, performing on national and international stages. Over nine seasons at the Stratford Festival I have been privileged to work with numerous accomplished professionals in the musical and acting companies. Elsewhere coaching credits include the Canadian Company of “Billy Elliot” for Mirvish Productions in Toronto, “The Hockey Sweater” for the National Arts Centre in Ottawa and Opera NUOVA in Edmonton Alta. I hold a certificate of specialization in CCM pedagogy from the Shenandoah Conservatory in Virginia. In 2023/24 I will direct the opera scenes and full stage production for Opera Laurier. At LAMA this fall, I will teach the second season of “Broadway 101” which will focus on Musical Theatre.
I divide my time between classical music and musical theatre. I have witnessed many parallels between the art of the classical actor and the classical singer, and am interested in combining ideas about text, sound, physicality and authenticity from these complementary worlds. My first priority for my students is to create a space in our lessons for open communication, learning and fun.
