I have been principal clarinet with the National Arts Centre, Vancouver Symphony and Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestras and am currently the principal clarinetist with the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra.
I have participated at Tanglewood and have been a featured artist at the Scotia Festival of Music and the Vancouver International Chamber Music Festival, as well as appearing as a soloist and chamber musician in recitals across Canada.
Throughout a professional performing career spanning more than 46 years, I have worked in virtually every setting where clarinet is required. My experience includes symphony orchestras, concert bands, chamber ensembles, musical theatre productions, pop, folk and jazz performances, as well as improvisation and contemporary music projects.
I have had the great fortune to study with some of the world's finest clarinetists and bring more than four decades of performing and teaching experience to my work as both a musician and educator.
I am a dedicated and passionate teacher who enjoys working with students to help them achieve their personal best while developing the skills that will support their future career goals.
Having taught clarinet for more than 40 years in post-secondary institutions and through private instruction, I have had the privilege of working with students pursuing a wide range of musical paths. Many former students have gone on to perform in professional orchestras and world-class ensembles, while others have built rewarding careers as music educators in elementary and secondary schools. Supporting students as they discover and achieve their own goals remains one of the most rewarding aspects of teaching at Laurier.
