Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

I received my PhD in law from Queen’s University of Belfast in 2007 and my LL.M from Maurer School of Law of Indiana University in 2003.
Prior to joining Laurier, I was a post-doctoral fellow at the Munk Centre for International Studies of the University of Toronto (2007-2009).
In June 2016, I was called to the Ontario Bar.
My research is focused on comparative criminal justice, criminal law, criminal procedure and human rights. I am particularly interested in the evolution of jury trials and reforms in the criminal justice systems of post-Communist transitional countries. Other research projects include study of European lay adjudication systems and independence of the legal profession in Post-Soviet states.
I am willing to supervise graduate students in the areas of comparative criminal justice, criminal law and procedure.
