Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

At Laurier, we are committed to supporting and enhancing the well-being of our staff and faculty with a comprehensive benefits package that focuses on our employee's health and well-being, and that of their families. Our benefits programs touch on a wide range of areas that provide for a healthy work-life balance:
Laurier's pension plan is a money purchase plan with a minimum guaranteed pension level. This "hybrid" plan design provides you with a better benefit than a more traditional defined-benefit plan, because it enables you to reap the rewards of the plan's investment performance, while having the security of a minimum guaranteed benefit (defined-benefit).
Laurier is committed to providing an inclusive workplace. We believe that a healthy, productive workforce is essential to our ability to provide quality service. We recognize that on occasion, employees may experience health conditions that prevent them from attending work.
Laurier offers both a sick leave and abilities management program that provides income protection and support should an employee be unable to attend work or requires an accommodation within the workplace for health reasons, due to non-work related illness or injury.
Staff and faculty receive a discount on memberships to the athletic complex. Upon purchase of a membership, staff and faculty have access to their own change area, fitness centre (and use of the pool and squash courts on the Waterloo campus).
The Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) is available to all Laurier employees and their dependents. It provides confidential, professional counselling services that are free, voluntary and high-quality through Homewood Health Inc.
Every year Laurier hosts a variety of health and well-being focused events including Thrive Week, Employee Wellness days and lunch and learn sessions.
Employee Wellness Days provide employees with an opportunity to focus on their health and well-being by participating in a keynote and various breakout sessions while learning about the services and supports offered to our employees.
