I am a certified music therapist as well as a registered psychotherapist. I received my Bachelor of Music and Psychology, Bachelor of Music Therapy, and Master of Music Therapy all at Laurier. I completed my Neurologic Music Therapy training through Colorado State University.
In addition to working as a clinical supervisor at Laurier, I also operate a private practise. Music By Design offers both music therapy and psychotherapy sessions, and clinical supervision. I am the founder of ComMusicate: a digital resource, manual, and database for music therapists and speech language pathologists. I have extensive clinical experience working with children with communication, developmental, social-emotional, and physical challenges. Most recently, I completed a full-time contract at the HWCDSB, providing music therapy and music-based learning to students FDK – Grade 12.
I am avid about all things music: songwriting, improvisation, performing, presenting, and teaching. I play piano, violin, guitar, and percussion. I am an active member of both CAMT and MTAO, and serve on various committees.
I am passionate about targeting communication skills through music. I am also interested in establishing and developing music therapy services within the elementary and secondary school settings. Supervising practicum students, music therapy interns, and qualifying music psychotherapists is a true passion of mine. I continue to engage in postgraduate psychotherapy studies including trauma-informed care, CBT, SFT, and DBT.
