Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.


Payment

Payment is accepted by cheque, MasterCard®, Visa®, Visa Debit®, or Professional Development Dollars. To pay by credit card select "Register for a Workshop" for online payment. For all other payment methods, contact the Professional Development office at 519.884.0710 x5234. Cheques, made payable to Wilfrid Laurier University, can be mailed to:

Registration cannot be confirmed until payment has been received.

Receipts

If you are registering online, please keep a copy of your confirmation for your records. Receipts can be provided upon request. If you are eligible to claim a tax credit for tuition fees, your receipt will be required as proof of enrolment. Please note that as of 2019 the T2202 form (Tuition and Enrolment Certificate) is only issued for online workshops and courses scheduled over six weeks or more. 

Discounts

You may qualify for discounts:

  • Four + Discount: Register for four or more workshops in the current course calendar and receive a 10% discount on the cost of each workshop. You must register and pay for all workshops at the same time; discount is not cumulative or retroactive. Contact the Professional Development office prior to registering to receive a discount voucher code.

Note: The CBT and Professional Coaching certificates, and Dare to Lead™ workshops are not eligible for discounts.

Please be sure to confirm location when registering.

Kitchener

The Kitchener certificates are held at Wilfrid Laurier University's Faculty of Social Work, 120 Duke Street West, Kitchener. There are a number of convenient city parking garages that offer daily parking rates. See the City of Kitchener website for parking lot locations. Kitchener City Hall is the closest parking garage to our location.

Milton

The Milton certificates are held at the Milton Education Village Innovation Centre, 555 Industrial Drive. The Centre is accessible by Milton's transit system, GO Transit, 400-series highways and an active transportation network. Free onsite parking is available.

Cancellations and Refunds

All cancellations must be received in writing at fswprofessionaldevelopment@wlu.ca during office hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Workshops and courses cancelled by the Professional Development office are eligible for a full refund.

Two Weeks Prior to Start Date

  • In-class or Online Workshop: Cancellations received prior to two weeks before the start date are eligible for a full refund, minus a $50 administration fee per cancellation.
  • CBT Course: Cancellations received prior to two weeks before the start date are eligible for a full refund, minus a $100 administration fee per cancellation.
  • Professional Coaching Program: Cancellations received prior to two weeks before the start date are eligible for a full refund, minus a $100 administration fee.

You also have the option to send a colleague in your place or change your registration to another workshop or course in the same academic year with no administration fee.

Less Than Two Weeks Prior to Start Date

  • In-class or Online Workshop: Cancellations received less than two weeks before the start date are eligible for a credit, minus a $50 administration fee per cancellation.
  • CBT Course: Cancellations received less than two weeks before the start date are eligible for a credit, minus a $100 administration fee per cancellation.
  • Professional Coaching Program: Cancellations received less than two weeks before the start date are eligible for a credit, minus a $100 administration fee.

You also have the option to send a colleague in your place or change your registration to another workshop or course in the same academic year with no administration fee.

Day Before

Cancellations received the business day before an in-class or online workshop or course are eligible for a 50% credit. You can also send a colleague in your place for no administration fee.

Non-Attendance

Cancellations the day of an in-class workshop, non-attendance, or on or after the start date of an online workshop or course are not eligible for a refund, credit or transfer.

Cancellations Due to Weather

The Professional Development program will follow Laurier's decision regarding inclement weather. If the university is closed, all Professional Development workshops and courses are also cancelled. If courses are cancelled due to inclement weather, we will do our best to reschedule the date. If you cannot attend on that date, you will be eligible for a full refund.
