Laurier Researcher Seeks to Increase Support Programs for Marginalized, Racialized Students in Classrooms 

Ardavan Eizadirad, an assistant professor in the Faculty of Education at Laurier, is addressing the widening achievement gap faced by students in racialized and under-resourced communities as a result of COVID-19. By identifying specific barriers to access and engagement, Eizadirad’s research team hopes to make programming more effective and responsive to the needs of communities

Laurier Expands Bachelor of Education Program to Brantford Campus

On April 26, Brantford-Brant MPP Will Bouma announced that Laurier will receive funding from the Ministry of Colleges and Universities to expand its sought-after Bachelor of Education program to the Brantford campus. Laurier began offering programming in fall 2022.

Laurier Hosts Month-Long STEAM Program for High School Students Across Canada

The Shad Laurier program welcomed 56 Grade 10 and 11 students from across Canada to Laurier’s Waterloo campus to participate in collaborative science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) programming and find solutions to real-world problems.

Laurier and InkSmith Partner for Mission on the Moon Program, Supported by Canadian Space Agency

As Canada prepares to launch a robotic lunar rover in the next five years, the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) is investing in research and educational initiatives related to space science and technology. With funding from CSA, Laurier’s Faculty of Education and InkSmith are partnering to design and develop Mission on the Moon: An Educational Program for Canadian Youth, which will provide inquiry-based coding and robotics activities for students in Grades 6 through 9.

The Centre for Leading Research in Education

The Centre for Leading Research in Education (CLRiE) is a university-wide research centre at Laurier dedicated to supporting education research. It brings together Laurier faculty, staff and students, as well as researchers and partners from external community organizations, with backgrounds in education, psychology, kinesiology, music, health studies, biology, languages and literatures, history, social work, youth and children’s studies, global studies and more. CLRiE's interdisciplinary focus encourages the development of thoughtful, balanced and creative approaches to educational research in a changing world.

Continuing Education 

Laurier Continuing Education supports the growing adult learner community through timely and relevant learning experiences designed for today’s working professionals. The program is backed by Laurier’s reputation for academic quality and teaching excellence and inspired by our local and global community needs. Laurier Continuing Education allows more flexibility, relevancy and openness for professional and community-focused learning.

Faculty of Education

Laurier’s Faculty of Education offers a Bachelor of Education degree integrating theory and practice to develop teachers for a changing world. Our program includes diverse courses and substantial practical experience in partner schools and alternative placements, both locally and globally. Laurier’s interdisciplinary Master of Education program provides educational leaders and professionals from a wide range of employment fields with an advanced and integrated conceptual understanding of the relationship between educational theory, practice, and reflection. The Master of Education, Student Affairs Field allows candidates to focus their studies related to educational theories and practices with a specific focus on student affairs and services at the postsecondary level.
