Delivery Options

Full-Time MBA

Earn an MBA in Waterloo in only 12 months.

Since 1976, the Lazaridis Master of Business Administration (MBA) program has been delivering an innovative, world-class professional business education program. We were the first Canadian university to offer a one-year, full-time MBA program targeting candidates seeking to acquire the degree in the shortest timeframe possible. This was made possible by designing an intensive integrated core curriculum exposing you to different key disciplines concurrently.

Admission Requirements: Domestic Applicants
  • A four-year undergraduate degree, or equivalent, in any discipline from a recognized university with a minimum B standing (73%) in the final year of study, or most recent 10 half-credit university degree courses.
  • Evidence of strong quantitative skills, normally by the successful completion of the GMAT test with a score of 550 or higher. We also accept a GRE score. A GRE score must convert to the minimum 550 GMAT score required. We will also accept a CFA Level 1 Pass.
  • Three professional references, or if you have completed any education within the last three years, two professional referees and one academic referee is required.
  • Applicants whose language of instruction during their undergraduate degree was a language other than English, must provide evidence of proficiency in English prior to admission. A minimum score on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) of 100 internet-based (iBT) (with minimum skill scores of 21 in each of the four skill sets), or TOEFL paper-based (pBT) minimum score of 600, or a minimum score of 7.0 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is required.
  • A minimum of two years of full-time work experience.
Admission Requirements: International Applicants

International applicants include all applicants that have obtained a previous undergraduate or master’s degree outside of Canada, and will be attending with a Study Visa.

  • Education equivalent to a four-year Canadian undergraduate degree in any discipline from an accredited university with a minimum B average (73%) in the last 10 half credit courses completed. (Usually displayed as First Class or First Division Standing.)
  • The GMAT is mandatory for all students who have achieved their undergraduate degree outside of Canada, with a minimum score of 550. We also accept a GRE score. A GRE score must convert to the minimum 550 GMAT score required. We will also accept a CFA Level 1 Pass.
  • For students whose degrees were conferred by a non-English language institution, a minimum score of 100 internet-based (with minimum skill scores of 21 in each of the four skill sets), on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), or a minimum score of 7.0 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is required.
  • Three professional references, or if you have completed any education within the last three years, two professional references and one academic reference are required.
  • A minimum of two years of full-time work experience.

Full-Time MBA + Co-op

Gain the knowledge and work experience to get the career you want.

The co-op program is designed for high-caliber, recent university graduates with less than two years of full-time work experience. If you need valuable real-life work experience or are interested in gaining experience in a new industry, the Lazaridis full-time MBA with co-op program will be the best choice for you. The eight months of work experience will provide an invaluable addition to your resume and give you the insights needed to help you make the right choices for your career path.

Canada's Largest Business Co-op

Wilfrid Laurier University is the home to the first business co-op program in Ontario and is now the largest business degree co-op program in Canada. We earned accreditation from the Canadian Association for Co-operative Education for meeting high program standards. The Lazaridis full-time Master of Business Administration (MBA) with co-op program is the first MBA co-op program in Canada to receive this prestigious accreditation.

Part-Time Evenings

Work while you earn an MBA two evenings a week.

The part-time evenings Master of Business Administration (MBA) program is designed for working professionals who want to earn their MBA while maintaining their full-time job. Classes are held twice a week in the evening so you can balance work, home and school-life. You will learn in small class sizes with other highly motivated candidates from diverse backgrounds, enabling the cultivation of future business contacts and lasting personal relationships. Your instructors will be experienced Lazaridis School faculty with strong industry backgrounds.

3.3 years (10 academic terms). Although the program is designed to be completed in 3.3 years, our flexible class schedules allow you to graduate as quickly as 2.3 years – or extend your studies up to 5 years.

Accelerated Part-Time Evenings

Business graduates can earn advanced standing in our part-time program.

If you have already successfully achieved an undergraduate degree in business or commerce, you may be an ideal candidate for our accelerated degree option. This format moves you directly in to the comprehensive stage of the degree, allowing you to immediately start to focus on your specific areas of interest and choose from a wide selection of MBA exclusive elective courses. You will also participate in the Applied Business Research Consulting project with your team and the Not-for-Profit Practicum rounding out your complete MBA experience in a shorter time frame.

Admission Requirements: Domestic Applicants
  • A four-year undergraduate Bachelor of Business Administration or Bachelor of Commerce degree achieved in Canada, that was achieved no more than eight (8) years ago, with a minimum B+ average (77% or G.P.A. of 9.0) in the last 20 half credit university degree courses completed.
  • A minimum of three years full-time work experience. Part-time and summer employment between university terms do not apply. At least three to five years of management work experience is mandatory.
  • Evidence of strong quantitative skills, normally by the successful completion of the GMAT test with a minimum score of 550 or higher. We also accept a GRE score. A GRE score must convert to the minimum 550 GMAT score required. We will also accept a CFA Level 1 Pass.
  • Three professional references, or if you have completed any education within the last three years, two professional references and one academic reference is acceptable.
International Applicants

All international applicants are invited to apply to our Full-time MBA degree and/or Full-time MBA with Co-op degree. Please note that Canadian Student Visas are only eligible for the one-year Full-time MBA degree and/or the Full-time MBA with Co-op degree.
