Homecoming 2021 kicks off on Sept. 22 with a mix of in-person and virtual events for students, alumni, faculty and staff to participate in.
This year, we welcome back some of our marquee events on the Waterloo campus, such as the on-campus pancake breakfast for students and the Golden Hawks football game! We have also partnered with restaurants to offer football game watch parties in Kitchener-Waterloo and Calgary, and OUA.tv will be livestreaming the game online.
HawkWALK returns for a second year, as we invite students, alumni and friends around the world to don the purple and gold and celebrate Homecoming by being active.
Several events will be delivered virtually, such as the online Pancake Breakfast and cooking class with the Six Pack Chef Wallace Wong (BBA ’12), Alumni Awards of Excellence, Alumni Association Annual General Meeting, Laurier eSports Tournament, a Hawks Rewind of the 1991 Vanier Cup Game and the Homecoming Sunday Service.
There will also be two events celebrating Laurier Brantford: ‘Aesthetics of the Small: A Conversation with 2020 Scotiabank Giller Prize Winner Souvankham Thammavongsa’ and ‘Inspiring Conversations: A Glimpse of Laurier Brantford's Mark on the World.’
“This year's homecoming offers a little bit for everyone — from on-campus, to across the country and around the world. Whether you can join us virtually for pancakes or in-person to watch the football game, you are invited to tap into your Laurier pride and join us in marking Homecoming 2021," says Jason Coolman, vice-president: External Relations and Advancement. "We hope everyone will celebrate a safe and enjoyable Homecoming from wherever they are."
As always, we remind our community members that ‘staying golden’ means being safe and respectful of our community. Reckless behaviour will not be tolerated as it is putting the most vulnerable in our community at risk and tarnishing the reputation of students and our university.
