2014 Annual German High School (grade11/12) Contest

Contest

Date: Friday May 16, 2014

Contest Rules, Regulations & Registration Deadline

  1. A student may participate in this contest more than once only if he/she has NOT ranked previously within the top two.
  2. Students who have won major prizes in the Ontario High School Provincial Contest are eligible to participate.
  3. The student must be enrolled in a Waterloo Region high school during the current school year. He /she must be in grade 11 or 12 German in the school for which he/she is competing or must have previously received a grade 11/12 German credit during the current school year.   The student must have been a resident of Canada for at least five years, if he/she has lived in a German-speaking country or has attended a German school (immersion).
  4. The student must be under 21 years of age by June 30 of the current school year.
  5. 7 students per school may participate: Registration is limited to 4 students in the regular category and to 3 students in the advanced category. Teachers are encouraged to enter their best grade 11/12 students.
  6. Students who have, within the last five years, spent more than two years at school in a German-speaking country or school (immersion) are not eligible to participate.
  7. Any student who has had 5 or more years of German instruction is automatically placed in the advanced category.
  8. COMPETITION CATEGORIES: all established rules still apply.

Awards

The Trophy Award: In order to compete for the school trophy, a school must enter a minimum of three students, all of whom must belong to the regular category.
This means the school trophy is now limited to students from the regular category.
