Updates:

Shelley Archibald (M.A. 2005), after film-making in the Maritimes, is now (usually) happily married to Fiacre O’Duinn (M.A. 2005), and living in Hamilton. She will start library school in Toronto in September 2009. [email: shelleyarchibald1@hotmail.com]

Andrei Brennan (M.A. 2001), was hired at the Capital Health regional medical authority in Edmonton in April 2008 as Clinical Quality Consultant to the University of Alberta Hospital, the Stollery Children's Hospital, and the new Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute. Michael Cheng-tek Tai (M.A. 1974), after finishing his Ph.D. from Concordia University, taught at the University of Saskatchewan before returning to his birthplace, Taiwan. Currently he is Dean of the College of Medical Humanities and Social Sciences at Chunghsan Medical University.

Lesley Cohen (M.A. 2005)just received an internship for the project “Seeing For Ourselves,” in Durban, at the Centre for Visual Methodologies for Social Change (CVMSC), School of Language, Literacies, Media and Drama Education, University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. She will work with teachers in a rural district who are participating in a visual arts-based project to address HIV and AIDS. [email: lesleycohen@shaw.ca]

Nicole Girard (M.A. 2003) is in Bangkok, working for an organisation in the Philippines: Initiatives for International Dialogue. She is researching "self-determination movements in Southeast Asia" as part of a 3 year action plan. Last year she was working for Oxfam doing research on women and ethnic minority rights in Southeast Asia. She is also working as an international music correspondent for SPIN magazine. Richard Menard (MA 1998) is in his 12th year in Korea, currently working at the Korean Minjok Leadership Academy, the top ranked high school in Korea. He is head of International Affairs, and teaches English Composition, AP Language, AP Literature, and western philosophy. He and his wife have two delightful daughters, Saem Alaisha and Maia Soo.  They also run their own language services company, involved mostly in teacher placement, translation, copy editing and own an English language kindergarten. In his free time, Richard volunteers with the Canadian embassy, teaching English to North Korean defectors and participating in other programs aimed at promoting Canadian-Korean relationships. Tim Pettipiece (M.A. 2002) successfully defended his PhD dissertation August 14, 2006 at Laval University: "Counting the Cosmos: Numeric Patterning in the Manichaean Kephalaia." This coming year he is moving to Ottawa with his wife, Julie, and their son Alexander, and Tim will be teaching at the University of Ottawa" to "He is teaching at the University of Ottawa, where he lives with his wife Julie and their son Alexander [email: timothy.pettipiece.1@ulaval.ca]

Amanda Roy (B.A. 2012) will be enrolled in an MA in Contemporary Art, Media, and Design Histories (2012-13) at OCAD University in Toronto.

Jana Shultes, nee Duncan (M.A. 1999), is currently living in Calgary with her husband, where she is working on her career as a writer. Michael Wilkinson (M.A. 1993), currently Associate Professor of Sociology at Trinity Western University, has published his second book, Canadian Pentecostalism: Transition and Transformation (Kingston: McGill-Queen’s Press, 2009). [email: Michael.Wilkinson@twu.ca]

Christina Woolner (B.A. 2007) will be starting an MPhil in Social Anthropology at the University of Cambridge in Fall 2013, where she will research the impact of war on indigenous Somali conflict resolution knowledge and practice, and the potential for such resources to support peace processes. She is the recipient of the prestigious Gates Cambridge Scholarship. Her upcoming studies at Cambridge come after an MA in International Peace Studies at Notre Dame University, and two years teaching peace and conflict studies, most recently at the University of Hargeisa, Somaliland.
