The Office of Faculty Relations is responsible for the negotiation and administration of collective agreements for over 1,300 university employees including all faculty, librarians, and contract academic staff at Laurier. The office is responsible for all labour relations matters arising out of the university’s collective bargaining relationship with WLUFA, including grievance and arbitration proceedings and labour relations board matters. The office maintains the Official Files for full-time faculty and professional librarians, and prepares compliance reports for the Faculty Association.
Reporting directly to the Vice-President: Academic, the Administrative Manager of Faculty Relations provides advice on faculty issues and provisions of the collective agreements (both full- and part-time). The Administrative Manager is also a member of the University’s negotiating team for faculty bargaining, provides administrative support to administration for faculty grievance and arbitration cases, and is a member of the Joint Liaison Committee.
Faculty Relations also provides immigration assistance; co-ordinates tenure and promotion applications, requests for sabbatical/leaves/SVEP; resignations, retirements; and senior academic administrator searches.
