Ian Collier
Chief Executive Officer & Partner, Perseis Partners Inc.
Ian has over 20 years experience in merchant banking and private equity investing, starting as an executive at TD Capital Group and Penfund Partners before leading OMERS merchant banking operatings. OMERS (Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System) is one of Canada's leading pension funds and currently has assets worth $47.6 billion. Ian refocused the private equity asset class and grew the portfolio from $300 million to over $4 billion.
Prior to founding Perseis Partners Inc. where he is currently the CEO and a partner, Ian co-founded Borealis Capital Corporation and Borealis Private Equity Fund. Borealis Capital Corporation was Canada's leading independent manager of alternative assets. Founded in 1997 as a merchant bank, it managed $9.4 billion of private equity, infrastructure and real estate assets. Ian has developed more than $3.5 billion in private market investments and has extensive experience as a corporate director in North America and Europe.
Ian has been a trustee of Primaris REIT ("Primaris") since its formation in 2003. Primaris is a real estate investment trust that is listed on the TSX. Currently, Primaris owns 26 Canadian mid-market retail centres in major cities with 9 million square feet of retail space that is 97% occupied. Ian also sits on the boards of seven private companies in Canada covering the manufacturing, consulting, electrical services, petroleum services and the oil and gas industry.
