Information for students receiving OSAP in January 2014



The Student Awards Office will be granted access by the Ministry of Training for Colleges and Universities (MTCU) to begin confirming student enrolments for the processing of Winter semester OSAP funds during the week of January 2, 2014.  See below for complete details.

 

All students who have submitted and their application online may check the status of their OSAP application by logging into their LORIS account with the University and accessing the "View My Student Aid/Funding" link on the Student Awards and Financial Aid tab.

Students returning for second semester: who have already submitted an OSAP application for the 2013/2014 academic year - the Student Awards Office will begin confirming enrollments for the release of winter term funding on January 2, 2014.

To receive your winter term funding, students MUST be registered in the correct course load indicated on the OSAP application.  Students who are not correctly registered for classes will not be confirmed until this information is valid.

Students who have sufficient winter term funding to cover their outstanding tuition fees AND who have indicated that fees may be redirected to the institution on their behalf will have late charges reversed once the appropriate amount of funding has been electronically received by the Business Office.

Students beginning their studies in January: who are considering applying for government funding, the online application for both the Ontario Tuition Grant (OTG) and the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) are now available.

These programs may be accessed directly through the Government Web Portal or through the Laurier Student Awards web page.

First time applicants - note that you will be required to submit a Master Student Financial Assistance Agreement (MSFAA) to your closest post office in order to have your funding electronically transferred to your account.  Returning students who have already submitted an MSFAA will not need to resubmit this document, providing their banking information from 2012/2013 has not changed.  If you have changed your banking information, access to the "Bank Account Change Request" form in the National Student Loans Service Centre "Toolbox" to update your information.

Students who rely on OSAP as their primary source of funding for university should indicate that all fees be directed to the school on their behalf to pay for their outstanding tuition/residence costs.  Students who do not choose the redirect option will not have the opportunity to have late payment fees reversed by the Business Office.

Similar to past years, the Student Awards Office encourages all students to apply early for OSAP funding.

Students who are submitting their first application for 2013/2014 funding and submitted all required documentation before December 1st will be eligible to have their late payment fees reversed by the Business Office provided the redirection of OSAP funding covers all outstanding fees.
