The Faculty of Music and Continuing Studies at Laurier are pleased to offer their newest offering, "Best Voice Forward: A Voice Audition Workshop" for fall 2010 and winter 2011. Led by internationally renowned Canadian mezzo-soprano, Kimberly Barber and former Laurier colleague, sought-after voice coach and collaborative pianist, Emily Hamper, students participating in this audition workshop will have the rare opportunity to enhance their vocal auditioning skills under the direction of Canada's best!

Fee: Full Participant $150 | Auditor $35 at the door or $50 for full weekend
Deposit Required: $50 deposit due at registration, balance of fees due by September 10, 2010

About the Instructors
Canadian mezzo-soprano, Kimberly Barber, has an international career in opera, concert, recital and recording (Paris Opera, English National Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, New York City Opera, London Symphony Orchestra, Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Deutsche Grammophon, etc.) as well as presiding over her voice studio at WLU, where she is an Associate Professor of Voice. Professor Barber has a BMus and Opera Diploma from the University of Toronto and is in demand as clinician, pedagogue and consultant across the country.
Emily Hamper (BMus, University of British Columbia; Honours Opera Diploma, University of Toronto; graduate of Merola Opera Program, San Francisco Opera) is increasingly in demand as both coach and accompanist for singers at the highest levels in Canada and abroad. She frequently partners her husband, baritone Philip Addis, and was the director of the WLU Opera Program in 2005 - 2006 while Professor Leslie De'Ath was on sabbatical leave. Now based in Stratford, Ontario, Ms. Hamper is one of Canada's foremost young collaborative pianists.
Withdrawal and Refund Policy
- notice of withdrawal must be made in writing to Continuing Studies in-person, by mail, or by email
- a full tuition refund, less 10 per cent, will be issued when notice of withdrawal is received up to two weeks prior to the start of the first session
- a full tuition refund, less 25 percent, will be issued when notice of withdrawal is received after two weeks prior to start of the first session and prior to the start of the second session
- after the second session, no refunds will be issued
Please note that no refund of any sort will be given if the university is closed for any reason during your course.
Wilfrid Laurier University reserves the right to cancel a course in which there is insufficient enrollment. In the event of a cancellation, students will be informed and all fees will be refunded.
