Building Evacuation Coordinators and Emergency Wardens



Safety, Health, Environment & Risk Management (SHERM) coordinates volunteers to carry out responsibilities during an emergency evacuation.  Building Evacuation Coordinators and Emergency Wardens have been designated per building as applicable. These individuals carry out emergency responsibilities as outlined in the Emergency Evacuation Plans.  Please refer to the following documents for further information: 

BUILDING EVACUATION COORDINATORS

It is the responsibility of a Building Evacuation Coordinator (BEC) to coordinate the activities of the Emergency Wardens in their building.

EMERGENCY WARDENS

Emergency Wardens (EW) assist with the quick and orderly evacuation of their area.

DESIGNATED SAFE AREAS (DSA's)

Designated Safe Areas (30m away from the building) are identified within the Fire Safety Plans for each building.

FIRE WATCH

When a fire alarm system fails to function properly, this form should be used by Building Evacuation Coordinators and Emergency Wardens to document the completion of a hourly fire watch.
