Paul Rooney
Chief Operating Officer, Manulife Financial
| Paul Rooney is a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council for Laurier’s School of Business and Economics, and a 25-year veteran with Manulife Canada Ltd. He joined Manulife’s Toronto corporate division as an actuarial student in 1986, and was soon promoted to Senior Actuarial Associate for its U.S. Individual Marketing area. In 1989, he transferred to a similar role within the Corporate Actuarial Department. In 1998, he was named Vice-President and General Manager of Affinity Markets. Following significant growth and success in that business unit, he was also appointed Executive Vice-President of Individual Insurance several years later. Paul serves on the board of directors of Manulife Bank of Canada, Manulife Trust Company and Manulife Asset Management Ltd. He hosts the Manulife Bike and Hike for Heart, a successful annual fundraiser for St. Mary’s Cardiac Care Centre in Kitchener. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries. Degree: BSc (Honours), University of Western Ontario |
