Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation

The Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation includes the Information & Communication Standard, Employment Standard and Transportation Standard. The regulation became law on July 1, 2011 with implementation dates throughout 2025.

The Information & Communication Standard outlines how businesses and organizations will have to create, provide and receive information and communications in ways that are accessible for people with disabilities. At Laurier, this will include updates to our ITS infrastructure, accessibility related training for instructors, and specific requirements for the Library.

The goal of the Employment Standard is to help employers create equal employment opportunities for people with disabilities. This includes offering accommodations during the recruitment process, providing workplace accommodations and tailoring workplace emergency plans to the abilities of all employees, including those with disabilities.

The Transportation Standard focuses on making transportation services accessible, including buses, trains, subways, streetcars and ferries. At Laurier, this may impact the procurement of transportation for events and other off-campus gatherings.

For information about accessible public transportation at Laurier locations please visit Accessible Transit @ Laurier.
