Writing Contest winners for Common Reading Program

Writing tutor wins 1st prize in 2013 CRPWriting Contest!

Nov 12/13

Winners of the inaugural Common Reading Program's writing contest will be awarded their prizes on Friday, November 15 in a ceremony at the Laurier Library. All are welcome to attend. Congratulations to all winners and entrants!

Entrants responded to the question "Indian Horse tells the story of how Saul used means both beneficial and harmful to himself to cope with life's difficulties. How do you cope in the absence of family?"

A jury of three (one English faculty member, one staff, and one student) judged all the anonymous entries to come up with the three winners. First prize goes to Janet Kwon, fourth year philosophy student and writing centre tutor, for her entry "What's the limit?" Second prize is Marissa Evans' "Weighting fo air," while third prize goes to Patrick Enright for "Enduring the abyss: A guide to surviving a motherless, brotherless, and potentially meaningless existence."

Entries can be read here.
