Gail Forsyth, Director, Learning Services (gforsyth@wlu.ca)

or

Boba Samuels, Manager, Writing Centre (bsamuels@wlu.ca)

Boba Samuels has been appointed as the new manager of Laurier’s Writing Centre. Since 2010, Boba has been the writing consultant at the Writing Centre. She previously worked at Western University and at King’s University College writing centres, and is nearing completion of her doctoral studies in education. Her research focuses on how undergraduate students learn to write in their disciplines. Currently, Boba is leading an initiative with the Aboriginal Student Centre to support the writing development of Aboriginal students and conducting a SSHRC-funded study of writing assignments in the Faculty of Science, among other projects based in the Writing Centre. She also serves on the steering committee for the Faculty of Arts new Common Reading Program.

Jordana Garbati has been hired as the writing centre’s new writing consultant. Jordana comes to Laurier from Western University, where in August she is defending her doctoral dissertation in teacher's perception of ESL inclusion in Ontario French classrooms. She has extensive experience tutoring and teaching writing, and a strong research record in applied linguistics. She is looking forward to coordinating the writing centre’s tutoring program and flagship Scholarship Proposal Writing workshops, and implementing programming for language learners.
