Dr. Michael Bérubé "The Value -- and the Values -- of the Humanities"

Professor Bérubé is the Edwin Erle Sparks Professor at Penn State University and was the 2012 President of the Modern Language Association. He is a noted scholar who has published several books on cultural studies, contemporary literature, disability studies, and liberal politics. His books include: The Left at War (2009), Rhetorical Questions: Essays on Humans and the Humanities (2006), What's Liberal About the Liberal Arts? (2006), and Life As We Know It: A Father, A Family, and an Exceptional Child (1996). Professor Bérubé has been at the forefront of discussions about the value of Humanities study and frequently writes in both public and academic forums about pressing debates in higher education.
