Canadian Guitar Quartet to host masterclass and mini-concert at Laurier
Wilfrid Laurier University’s Faculty of Music will welcome the Canadian Guitar Quartet to the Waterloo campus Sunday, Nov. 24 to host a masterclass and mini-concert from noon to 2 p.m. in the John Aird Building, A431.
Since 1999, the Canadian Guitar Quartet (CGQ) has been touring North and South America non-stop, from one standing ovation to the next, establishing a reputation as one of the finest guitar ensembles in the world. CGQ’s repertoire includes original songs, traditional Latin music and pieces from Rossini and other classical composers.
Faculty of Music students from Terry McKenna’s guitar studio will work with the CGQ in a masterclass for the majority of the event, with a CGQ mini-concert taking up the final half-hour.This event is free and open to the public.
