WATERLOO – Principal Conductor of The Stockholm Youth Orchestra Glenn Mossop will conduct the Wilfrid Laurier University Symphony Orchestra Saturday, Nov. 30. The programme, which begins at 8 p.m. in the Theatre Auditorium on Laurier’s Waterloo campus, will feature music by Mendelssohn, Brahms, Vaughan Williams and de Falla. The 2013 Faculty of Music Concerto Competition winners, pianist Yvonne Choi and violinist Allison Stringer, are also featured in the concert.
Mossop was born in Calgary, Alberta and has been professionally active as a conductor in Europe, the United States and Canada. Throughout his career, Mossop has worked extensively with professional, youth and community orchestras. He is head of orchestral conducting at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, Sweden.
“I’ve known Glenn Mossop for over 50 years, and I continue to be inspired by his passion, energy and extravagant commitment to making music,” said Laurier Associate Professor Paul Pulford. “His considerable experience conducting on several continents and working in both opera and symphonic repertoire with talented youth is his trademark, but his sheer love of making music will always be Glenn’s greatest strength.”
