BiographyMy academic studies began with studies in commerce with the ultimate goal of attending law school. After being introduced to sociology by a professor passionate about his subject I found myself gravitating towards the discipline. The end result was a Ph.D. in Sociology in the area of crime and deviance. It has been a decision I have never regretted as I have grown more interested and more passionate about the issues I study with time.
I am ever-so fortunate to share my life with four wonderful children who have grown up to be adults I admire and who I love to spend time with. Unfortunately, this time is limited as three of my ‘brood’ reside in British Columbia and the fourth in Saskatchewan. Needless to say, I spend as much time as possible either traveling to see them, or bringing them out to see me. I am additionally blessed to spend time with my husband, John, who supports, encourages, and, many times, tolerates me and the demands placed on my time. In our spare time, we enjoy exploring new neighborhoods in Toronto, hanging out at Burlington Beach with our dogs, and hiking anywhere outdoors.
