Canadian Excellence

WELCOME TO MDRC

MDRC is an internationally known centre for research of movement disorders - particularly Parkinson's disease - operating under Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario.

We are trying to find answers to questions such as:

  • What causes freezing?
  • How do obstacles affect walking?
  • How does exercise affect Parkinson's symptoms?
  • What factors influence the progression of symptoms of Parkinson's?
  • What can we learn that will assist people living with Parkinson's in their daily activities?

TESTIMONY:† "I am very thankful for the opportunity to participate in the PD exercise classes and research studies at the MDRC.† I have noticed a definite improvement in my mobility. I twist and bend with less difficulty.† My biggest challenge is poor balance, and I need and appreciate the assistance and encouragement of the student volunteers.† Also, the social aspect has been a benefit to my sense of well-being.† Talking to others with PD has helped me accept what I have and to go forward with a positive attitude.† THANK YOU, MDRC!"† - Dave†
