Food Service Facilities
Food Services Director: Ryan Lloyd-Craig, ext. 2818
Laurier provides its own food service operation catering to residence and non-residence students, offering nutritional meals with the flexibility and freedom of individual choice, including a wide variety of snack items. NEW for Fall 2012 is an exciting Board Dining Plan for Laurier, which is an entirely different concept of a dormitory meal plan. All first year students living in university residence must purchase a dining plan. There are 4 options to choose from for students in a dormitory style building; the "Freedom" plan, the "Ultimate" plan, the "Hearty" plan, and the "Light" plan. Students living in a residence with kitchens (apartment style) must purchase the "Apartment Comfort Plan". Students who live off-campus may wish to purchase a value plan (which does not expire) or they can also purchase a dining plan as described above.
The required dining plan is divided into a "Block" of meals in addition to Flex dollars. The Block portion can only be used at the Fresh Food Company (Dining Hall). The Flex dollars can be used at any on campus locations including the Starbucks, Tim Horton's kiosks, Second Cup Library Cafe, the Waterloo College Hall and King Street Residence operations. The Terrace food court (which includes Harvey's, Mr. Sub, Pizza Pizza, The Union Market, The Pita Shack, Ah So Sushi, Spring Rolls, and Williams Fresh Cafe) as well as Wilf's. If a student uses all of their Flex dollars in any term, they can add more funds to that account or simply add funds to their convenience account. All meal plan balances must be used by April 30 of each academic year without a refund or balance transfer. For more specific details describing the meal plans, visit the OneCard website.
By agreement between Wilfrid Laurier University and the Wilfrid Laurier University Students' Union, all residence students participating in meal plans will pay a levy to assist in the payment for capital upgrades to Food Service Operations.
