Support and Services

Laurier International

Laurier International is a dedicated resource for international student services and a support network for your growth and development. The International Student Advisors and student staff team are there to help with your adjustment to studying in a new country.

Through Laurier International, you can get support with traveling to Canada, Canada’s immigration rules and regulations, and your academic transition to university in Canada. You can also get answers to your questions about life in Canada and connect with upper-year students for the student perspective on Laurier.

A Supportive Community

University life is an exciting time, but it can also bring new challenges and changes. No matter what you encounter, from the moment you accept your offer until you graduate and beyond, we’ve got the support and services you need.

Before You Arrive

We have a comprehensive support program to help you prepare for life as a Laurier student. There’s a lot to do before you arrive on campus, and we provide support with:

  • Pre-arrival communications that outline your next steps and include helpful resources and support with your move to Canada.
  • Online orientation specific to new international students that you can work through at your own pace to learn more about the Laurier experience.
  • Emails from our International Student Leaders, upper-year students who will provide guidance and personalized resources from a student perspective.

Laurier 101

Transitioning to university-style learning can be a big change for some students. Whether you are coming directly from high school, transferring from another college or university or getting back to academics after some time off, studying in university may be different than your previous experiences.

Laurier 101 is a program that provides content to you and your supporters to prepare you for the time you’ll spend at Laurier both inside and outside of the classroom.

English Language Support

To study at Laurier, you’ll need to have strong proficiency in English to fully benefit from university instruction presented in English.

If you don’t meet our English-language requirements, you can choose to pursue an academic English program offered by one of our education partners, including the Academic Transition Pathway (ATP) program available at Wilfrid Laurier University College.

The ATP program is designed to provide undergraduate students with the skills and support you need to excel in your chosen degree program at Laurier and will help you meet your language and academic goals. This program is completed before you begin your studies at Laurier.

English proficiency, both written and oral usage, is essential to pursuing graduate studies at Laurier as well. To find our accepted graduate test scores and how to upload your test results, please visit our Graduate English Proficiency Requirements page.
